The Amazonian flora is blessed by nature. In the middle of the jungle, there are innumerable species oilseeds, edible, medicinal and dyes. 100,000 Plant species present in Latin America, about 30,000 are in the Amazon. The most famous is the victoria regia, the flower symbol of the region. Known as "the Queen of the Lakes", the victoria regia (Vitoria regia lindl) opens its leaves in shallow waters and without current, forming a round tray and green. It ends up measuring 1 to 1.80 m in diameter. It was baptized with this name by an English naturalist to pay tribute to Queen Victoria by his exuberance. Silent flower of color over time; on the first day of opening, the buttons are white, and in the second, become pink. From the third day, it begins to open up to 17 hours and completes the cycle at 9 o'clock. The different degrees of moisture during the period of growth of the flow of rivers, the quality of the soil, winds and rains have led to the formation of well different vegetables. The sum of all these factors is reflected in the formation of a unique region on the planet that gives life to the large Amazonian biodiversity.

The vegetation can be divided into three types:

Ground forests

occupy not flood lands. They have 140 to 280 species per hectare, including the great trees of wood from the Amazon law. In some places, the tops of the trees are so large that they prevent the entry of up to 95% of sunlight. The main representatives of this type of vegetation are cedar and mahogany, angelim pedra, horse chestnut, the agroforests (rubber tree), guarana and timbo (a tree used by Indians to poison the fish).

Igapós (swamps) forest

they occupy the land low, close to the rivers and are permanently flooded. During the rainy season, the waters come to reach the tops of the trees, forming the "igapós". When this phenomenon occurs, small rivers and tributaries are called "igarapes". Most of the trees are between two and three meters, but some of them come up to twenty meters in height. The most famous of this type of vegetation species is the Victoria Regia.

Vega vegetation

is located between the firm land and swampy areas. It presents more than a hundred plant species per hectare. It is divided into three categories: low and intermediate vega (with predominance of Palm trees and some species whose roots help oxygen fixing), and la vega high (with the soil less reached by tidal waters and greater biomass due to tree species, such as the andiroba). It consists of large measures such as the agroforests, palms and the jatoba trees.
